Addison James "Jim" Harvey Jr.

Addison, James (Jim) Harvey, Jr., 92, of Austin,Texas died January 25, 2023 at the Heart Hospital of Austin. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Gardner Harvey and second wife Mae Atchley Harvey. He is survived by his children, Elaine Grant, Glenn Harvey and Ann Moltz. Sister Jean Schyler and brother in law Edward Billingsley. Also, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jim was born in San Antonio, TX on July 31, 1930 to Addison James Harvey and Mary Carter Harvey.

He joined the Boy Scouts early in grade school and by high school he had attained Eagle Scout.

He attended the University of Texas and met Patricia Gardner there. They were married in 1954 and Jim graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was already working part time for United Gas and went to work for them full time upon graduation.

United Gas quickly moved him to Shreveport, LA and their first child, Elaine Marie was born in March of 1958. Glenn Addison was born November of 1962 and Ann Elizabeth followed soon after in May of 1964.

Jim went to work for the Texas State Insurance Board in August 1970 and moved his family to Austin, Texas.

He and Patricia became members of St.Louis Catholic Church and were always very involved in church service.

When he retired from the Insurance Board, he and Patricia traveled extensively throughout the country. They enjoyed meeting up with friends and family.

They lived briefly in Washington State, Florida and Tulsa before settling in Omaha, NE. If you knew Dad you know that he never met a stranger!

In 2004 Jim and Patricia celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a big party at St.Louis Church.

We lost Patricia in 2009 after a long struggle with pneumonia.

In 2016 Jim met and married Mae Atchley. Sadly she passed away of cancer in 2021. Jim became very close to Mae’s sons, Lee and Dale Atchley and daughter, Amanda Botello and their families.
