

Most of her school years were spent in Lamesa, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1962. Her early work experience was as a bookkeeper for various firms.She was employed for most of her work life by the City of Austin, Austin, Texas, in the Public Works and Library Departments. She also served on the board of the Austin Employees Credit Union. Alice received a BA in accounting from Southwest Texas State University (Now Texas University).
Alice worked with cut glass as a hobby and with wood carving and was her family history researcher compiling a book on family history. She was always generous and loving to her family and friends and she was charitable to those in need in her community.
She will be dearly missed by her sister, Janet Drye Schlotter of Wichita, Ks. and by her brother, Jesse Benson III of San Marcos, Texas, niece’s husband Bret Reynolds of Wichita, Ks., great grandniece Kelly Reynolds of Wichita, Ks. and great grandnephew Jeremiah Reynolds of Ellis, Ks. Alice is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Benson Jr. and her niece Debra Reynolds. The family is also grateful to her longtime best friend and caregiver, Madelyn Goldberg.
A graveside service for Alice will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
