Alice passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Friday, November 13, 2015. She now rests with those that preceded her in death, her loving husband of 67 years, Frank Sr.; her sons, as mentioned below; several grandchildren and siblings.
Alice was hard-working and very proud of her many jobs, in particular, the Travis County Sheriff's Office from where she retired. Alice made numerous friends over her lifetime, whom she welcomed as family. From her sons' friends and people walking by, to folks that would pick a spot by the storage shed or ledge to lay their head for the night, Alice made sure they were fed. For that, she will be remembered by many as a South Austin legend.
Alice was the matriarch of a large beautiful family and was a devoted mother to daughters, Isabel Mary Estrada (Martin-deceased), Sherry Moreno (Paul); and sons, Frank Jr., Alfonso, David (Rosemary), Gilbert (Vera), Edward (Pat), Albert-deceased (Martha), Xavier-deceased (Carolina) and Vincent; 44 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters; Jesse Ortiz, Pete, Tony and Carmen Cortez, Mary Aleman, Janie Flores and Mary Gregg.
"You held my hand and loved me like only Grandma could my entire life...you will be more than deeply missed."
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers, with her son-in-law serving as honorary pallbearer.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary is Wednesday, 7:00 pm Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, South Congress. Mass of Christian burial, Thursday, 10 am St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
