Anita Krieger Wilson

Anita Marian Krieger Wilson, age 93, entered into eternal rest November 18, 2016. She was born on June 27, 1923, in Golden, Jefferson County, Colorado (home of Coors Beer) to parents Franklin O’Dell Krieger, of Excelsior Springs, Ray County, Missouri, and Helen Johnson Krieger, of Kansas.

Anita married her husband, Sam W. Wilson, Jr. in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County, Texas on December 24, 1944.

She spent two years studying at Texas A & M, was a former member of United Methodist Church of DeSoto, and she also volunteered with the DeSoto Police Department.

Anita was an accomplished painter specializing in landscapes, oil paintings, and acrylic paintings. Anita won several awards at art shows and exhibits, and would teach painting classes to residents at rest homes. Her artistic abilities also included pastels, stained glass work, and sculpture. She was a tomboy growing up, and learned to play the steel guitar as a girl, causing all the other children nearby to come and sing along with her playing.

Anita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sam W. Wilson, Jr.; son, Sam W. Wilson, III; her son-in-law, Wally Tallent; brother, O’Dell Krieger; her parents, Helen and Franklyn Krieger; and by her brother-in-law, Hubert Haley.

Anita is survived by her sister, Phyllis Haley of Hurst, Texas; daughter, Lorraine Tallent of Austin, Texas; daughter, Sharon Watts of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Walter R. Tallent, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, Jason Tallent and wife, Modiano, of Austin, Texas, Bryan and Heather Austin, of Oklahoma, Joe and Christy Watts, of Oklahoma, Gina and Joe Teeter of Athens, Alabama, Kristy Bullard of Oklahoma, and Dave Watts, Jr., of Oklahoma; 15 great grandchildren, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Funeral Service for Anita will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, November 25, 2016, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas. Interment to take place at a later date at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
