It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annabel Pena Mendez, who entered eternal rest on March 20, 2026, at the age of 60 at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love and strength will forever be remembered.
Annabel was born April 4, 1965 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Abel and Maria Paula Pena.
Proceeded in death by her father Abel Pena, brothers Roland Pena, Abel Pena Jr., and baby brother Rudolpho Pena.
Annabel worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician for over 35 years for St. David’s Hospital Systems.
Annabel enjoyed spending time with her family, especially Port Aransas beach. She loved watching her Dallas Cowboys and UT Longhorn sports.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years; Rolando Mendez of Austin, Texas; daughter Tatum Mendez of Portland, Oregon and sons Joseph Mendez and Jackson Mendez of Austin, Texas. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
