Antonia Morgan, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 88. Born in Taylor, Texas to Mary Rose and Henry Veselka on December 23, 1924, Toney married George Ellison Morgan on September 26, 1942, and spent over 70 years by his side as a proud resident of Austin, especially South Austin. An active member of St. Ignatius Martyr Parish for more than 60 years, she was deeply devoted to her faith, her parish, and her volunteer activities, including the Legion of Mary, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. As a volunteer at the Caritas of Austin Soup Kitchen, she specialized in hearty soups and gracious service. It was important to her to serve nourishing meals, but more important that the servers respected the dignity of the recipients.
Toney leaves behind a husband and family that she loved, and who will miss her very much: daughters, Claudia Morgan and husband Tom Biddle, of Brooklyn and Houston, and Carole O'Connell and husband Mike of Fort Worth; sons, David Morgan and wife Sharon, and Daryl Morgan and wife Andrea, all of Austin; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren: her sister, Mildred Stubbs and husband Harold of Galveston; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held at 6:00 pm followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 18 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church with Reverend William A. Wack C.S.C. officiating. Interment will follow at the Morgan family plot in the Masonic Cemetery.
Memorials in Toney's honor may be sent to St. Ignatius Church or to the charity of your choosing.
