Antonio Renteria Campos succumbed to his brief battle with cancer on Thursday, June 3, 2021, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 74. Tony was dearly loved by his wife, Beatrice Carmen Trujillo Campos, and their three children, Beatrice Monica Campos, of Austin, Texas, April Dawn Godwin and her husband David Godwin, of Cedar Creek, Texas, and Antonio Renteria Campos II and his girlfriend Jessica Weiss, of Luling, Texas.
Tony is also survived by his grandchildren, Alec Raymond, Marco Antonio, and Savannah Beatrice Salazar, Antonio Parker Campos, and Christopher James Godwin, and countless nieces and nephews from the families Moya, Fuentes, Serrano, Campos, Trujillo, Rios, and Hinojosa.
Tony graduated from Ysleta High School and then received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Pharmacy. He was a registered pharmacist and retired from Las Palmas Hospital (El Paso) to take care of his wife, Beatrice and his daughter, Monica. In his free time, Tony loved hunting and travelled to Russia, Alaska, Canada, and Colorado in his quests to hunt big game. He was an avid gun collector and was proud of his collection. He loved watching all Texas Longhorns sports and prioritized his schedules around game times. He loved to read and loved his dogs.
He will be remembered for his devotion and love to his wife, Beatrice, his unconditional love for his children and family at large. He had an enormous heart and was always there to provide for others in less than fortunate circumstances. Tony never hesitated to open his homes to anyone who needed comfort, solace, a warm meal, or a listening ear. He didn't mince his words nor was he overtly outspoken, but you knew where he stood and you knew what he thought. He was the bedrock and foundation for anyone who ever needed stability and guidance. His generosity was far-reaching and it never ended. He gladly gave to others because God had blessed him and rewarded his hard work.
A visitation for Tony will take place at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas on June 10, 2021, at 5pm.
