Our dad, Arthur J. Johnson Jr. was born November 28, 1952 in Austin, Texas and passed away on July 17, 2010 in Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur J. Johnson Sr. and Wilma O. Johnson and his sister Anita Kay Riffe. He leaves behind daughters Brittany and Laura; grandchildren Stetson, Justin, Christopher, and Shayla; brother Erwin Lee ‘Bubba’ Johnson and sister Judy Hicks; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He lived most of his life how he wanted; fishing, dancing to country music, playing dominos, smoking, laughing, playing washers and sharing a drink with friends. Once he made a friend he kept them. He loved his friends and family; especially his grand kids. He would always try to get them to laugh. He just wanted to see them happy. One way he would do this was to always bring them chocolate milk and donuts. Not just the packages of six donuts, but a bag of donuts. He would start to chuckle as the kids dove into the bags.
We will all have a story to tell about dad. Some funny, some about how stubborn he could be, some not so funny; but one thing they will all have in common is that when we remember him it will be with love in our hearts and the knowledge that he is in good hands with his dad, mom and sister.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Fitzhugh Cemetery.
