

Arvel was born on April 1, 1961, in Redfox, KY. to the late Arvel Kenneth Hagans and Naomi Robinson Hagans. He was the oldest of four siblings. Arvel's parents relocated to Sumter, South Carolina in 1971. He received his education in Sumter Public Schools in South Carolina graduating with the class of 1979. Arvel then enlisted in the US Air Force and began his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Arvel was then transferred to the Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas, where he remained for the next 10 years. After transferring to Austin, Texas, Arvel met his wife, Jane Hagans, of 43 years.
Arvel’s service in the US Air Force took him to an assignment in Kuwait, where he
served as a sergeant and Aerospace Propulsion Technician (Jet Engine) in support of
Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Arvel received the Air Force Achievement Medal, two
Bronze Air Force Good Conduct Medals, three Bronze Air Force Outstanding Unit
Awards, a Bronze Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, the Air Force NCO PME
graduate award, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal,
two Bronze Southwest Asia Service Medals, and the Kuwait Liberation
Medal/Government of Kuwait.
Arvel was a loving man with a great sense of humor, who loved to talk to anyone who would listen about BigFoot being real. He enjoyed spending time with family, grilling, fishing, playing pool and chilling in his garage with his cigar. He also enjoyed playing bingo and making music. After leaving the air force, Arvel continued his life with his wife and children in Austin,Texas, where he worked as a manager for a security company, Securitas Security
Services USA, at Intel.
One of Arvel’s dreams was to own an RV and travel around the United States to fish and be outdoors.
Arvel is preceded in death by his father, Arvel Kenneth Hagans and his sister,
Dorethea Debretta Hagans.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hagans; his children, Carl Daniels and Elaine Sterling;
his grandchild, Chelsa Daniels; his mother, Naomi Robinson Hagans; his siblings, Larry
Hagans and Mildred Hagans June, Aubrey Hagans, Kenyetta Hagans, Katrinia McKnight-Wheeler (Claude), and Denitra Abraham; his aunt Ruth Watson; his nieces La Tasha Patrice Stamps, Angelica Yvette Stamps, and Selena Lawson; his nephews Christopher Lamont June, Nathan Alexander June, John Wesley Stamps, Clayton Marcel Stamps, Marcus Hagans, and Paris Hagans; his grandnieces, Naturi Grace June, Allayah Harmony June, and Logan Stamps; his grand nephews, Santana Ja'Ye William Pressley, Saveontay June, and Clayton Marcel Stamps, Jr.; and a host other friends and relatives - too many to count, that he truly loved and were dear to his heart.
