

Banks McLaurin, Jr. Banks McLaurin, Jr., age 79, of Austin, formerly of Dallas, died on November 17, 2003. He was born on February 21, 1924, in Austin, Texas to Banks McLaurin, Sr. and Evelyn Davidson McLaurin. He graduated Salutatorian from Austin High School in 1941. Banks received a B.S. in Civil Engineering, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1944. He was a member of Chi Epsilom, Phi Eta Sigma and Tau Beta Pi Honor Societies, the Texas Cowboys, and President of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a member of the Naval ROTC at U.T. and served with the US Navy, aboard the USS Portland during W.W.II. Banks was a civil engineer with Humble Oil Company, followed by thirty years with Atlantic-Richfield Company. He was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Dallas. He was a lay reader and vestry member with his church; a certified genealogist who wrote numerous books; an avid collector; and an extensive traveler of the world. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Cromwell Morrison; three children, Candace Morrison and husband John Volz, Thomas Banks and wife Claire Webber, and Marion Glover and husband Keith Forbes; sister, Mary Standifer of Austin; eight grandchildren: Warren, Emery and Evelyn Volz, Doug and Reed McLaurin, and Louisa, Jonathon and Lauren Forbes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Farrior Chrisman. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20th in Austin, at the Summit at West Lake Hills and in Dallas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13th at St. Lukes Episcopal Church with interment to follow.
