He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Pat (Perez) Sandobal, daughter Sandra Hermosa married to Rick, with children Krista, Alyssa, and Alex; and son John Sandobal married to Cassy, with children Austin, Arianna, and Aidan.
He graduated from Bertram High School in 1965 and went on to serve in The United States Army from August 1965 to August 1967. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked 34 years with the State Department of Human Resources until his retirement in November 1999.
Basilio had many interests: playing softball until his late 40s, gardening, and fishing to name a few. However, spending time with his family was the most important to him.
A man with a noble name, Basilio had much to share. He was a caring person and a great listener. He served in several ministries at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He was a greeter and an usher and always looked forward to giving and receiving his “weekly quota of handshakes and hugs”. He helped his fellow man by assisting with the Freezing Nights Ministry and the Bereavement Ministry.
He was known as Mr. B by children and adults alike after a young child started calling him Mr. B. The title he loved most was being called Abuelo by his grandchildren.
