Bebe spent her early years in East Texas and then moved to Austin in her early teens. She graduated from San Marcos Baptist Academy and attended the University of Texas. She married Raymond E. Smith at age 19 and started her family, daughter Debi and son Matt. They resided in Austin all her life. Bebe enjoyed her work at the Texas Employment Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas Bankers Association, Trust Division. Bebe was a very loving person and quickly made friends throughout her life where ever she was even up to her final days in the hospital, rehab, and Longleaf Assisted Living, where the caregivers mourned her passing. She would always smile and say thank you to all. Her church family throughout the years meant so much to her, and they continued to care for her long after she could not attend, praying for her by name each Sunday. Bebe loved her family so well, continually worrying over them and wanting to help them in any way she could. She enjoyed crafts, listening to Ray Price, going dancing when she was younger, good movies, visits to Port Aransas, and playing bridge even until she could no longer see the cards. Bebe loved a good party, laughing and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to every family gathering and to her own birthday parties and her family always tried to throw her great ones and celebrate life with her well. She is now in heaven and truly kicking up her heals to the best celebration and party of all.
Bebe is survived by her loving family who will miss her so much: Daughter, Deborah Smith Howden, her children Sarah Peters (married to Alan, children Camden, Nolan, Mabry and Meryl), son Sam Howden (married to Sarah, children Samuel II and Henry Mark [on the way], Bethany Tomasik (married to Andrew, children Andrew III and Asher), Abby (married to Richard, children Caleb and [baby girl on the way]).
Son, Matthew R. Smith and wife Elizabeth, their children, Grace-Eva Yeager (married to Michael, children Sarah, Maddie, Hannah and Matthew), Lori-Beth Sewell (married to Brent, children Adalyn and Linley).
