OBITUARY

Betty B. Holloway

January 17, 1937 – April 29, 2026
Obituary of Betty B. Holloway
IN THE CARE OF

Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Betty Ann Holloway, 89, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026.

She was born on January 17, 1937, in Troup, TX, to Harvey and Thelma Bell.

Betty was an extraordinary woman whose life was defined by resilience, devotion, and unconditional love. Though she faced adversity in life – born deaf and losing her eyesight as an adult – she never allowed these challenges to limit the way she showed up for those she loved. Instead, she gave more – more care, more warmth, and more of herself – than most could imagine.

Her family was the center of her world and always her greatest priority. She devoted her life to loving and caring for them in the most selfless and unwavering way. Everything she did was rooted in her deep commitment to her family, and her presence brought comfort, strength, and love to all who knew her.

Betty was an incredible cook who expressed her love through the meals she prepared. She had a special way of bringing people together around the table, creating traditions and memories that will live on for generations. Her recipes, especially her beloved homemade rolls, will continue to be passed down, ensuring her legacy of love and family carries on.

As her grandchildren grew, Betty became their biggest supporter. Even without her sight, she never missed a game. With the help of her devoted husband, Ed, who lovingly signed every play into her hands, she experienced each moment alongside them. No one celebrated their successes more enthusiastically or loved them more deeply. She was, simply, an irreplaceable grandmother.

Betty shared a beautiful life with her husband, Ed, whose care and companionship were a testament to their deep and enduring love. Together, they created a life centered on family, faith, and commitment to one another.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Thelma Bell; sisters, Helen Langston Keith and Verena Balfour Seals, brother, Richard Bell; and former husband, James Lusby. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Holloway; her daughter, Sheri Thom (Tom); and her two sons, Mike Lusby (D’Andra), and Steve Holloway (Marni). She is forever missed by her grandchildren: Taylor Wadsworth (Ben), Mason Thom (Nicole), Ethan Thom (Gracie), Jennifer Baxter (Trey), Meredith Lusby, Marissa Lusby, Mollie Holloway, and Jenna Holloway. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Whitney Wadsworth, Adyson Wadsworth, Blakely Wadsworth, Asher Thom, Gabriel Thom, Rilee Lewandowski, Colton Baxter, Tucker Baxter, Presley Baxter.

Betty’s life was a powerful example of strength, grace, and selfless love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
