Betty Jo Pechacek

Born on Sunday, June 26, 1933, at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Betty Jo was the single child of Marshall and Gladys Presnell. Growing up with a father in the Air Force, she resided in Missouri, Hawaii, and California before settling in Austin. It was in Austin that she met her lifetime partner Alvin John Pechacek who preceded her in death.

Betty chose the bookkeeping/accounting career field, working for several private companies. She later became a supervisor at the Austin IRS Service Center. She and Alvin were independent business owners. Ever the entrepreneur, she partnered with son Allan Pechacek in opening Ample Self Storage in Kyle in 2000, which they sold in 2007 before retiring.

Betty continued to enjoy travel and cruising throughout her life. She was a member of the South Austin Senior Activity Center dance troupe, High Steppers and enjoyed bringing performances to nursing facility audiences.

Betty is survived by her three children, Brenda Roemer & spouse Russell of Cedar Park, Allan Pechacek and Debra LaJoie both of Buda. Her 5 grandchildren include Ginnefer Valenzuela and spouse Angel of Buda, Brandy O’Brien of Austin, Bryan Pechacek and spouse BreAnna of Bartlett, Victor Adkins, Jr. of Iowa and Bonney Smith and spouse Josh of Rockdale. Her extended family includes 14 great-grandchildren.
