Bill Rube Blackwell

Bill Blackwell, age 80, passed away on August 15, 2017 in Austin, Texas. Bill was born on April 5, 1937 in Hedley, Texas to Rube and Laura Blackwell. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1956. In 1973, he moved to Austin and accepted a position as a salesman and he did that for over 25 years.

Bill was a great man and a loving father. He married Florence in 1956 and the couple have two children Carrie and Larry. Bill was a social, active man who enjoyed fishing, reading, scratch offs, and watching football. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, friendly, helpful person.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rube and Laura Blackwell of Amarillo, Texas; his son, Larry Don Blackwell of Austin and his sister, Lois Lawson of Phoenix, AZ.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Carrie and her husband, Frank Flores, of Manor, Texas; his sisters, Sue Abernathy of Austin, Sandi Suggs of Nacogdoches; his brothers Jack Blackwell of Corpus Christi, Danny Britton of Nacogdoches and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A funeral is scheduled for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
