

Billie Mae McMinn, age 90, passed away on January 21, 2018, in George West, Texas. She was born in George West, Texas to David Bascom and Mattie Elaine Kleen on September 6, 1927. Billie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 41 years, Richard McMinn, and her sister, Doris Vickers.
Upon her graduation from high school, Billie attended Mary Hardin Baylor University and Texas A&I University where she studied elementary education. While doing her student teaching in the Rio Grande Valley, she met and married Richard McMinn on February 28, 1948. Three children followed, Richard, Rebecca, and Cheryl. The family moved to Austin in 1970 where she lived until returning to George West in 2016.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Richard and Anneliese McMinn, Rebecca Morton, and Cheryl and Jim Morano; sister, Mattie Lou Larry; brother, David B. Kleen, Jr. Billie was blessed with eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who all loved her very much. She loved her family dearly and always put family first.
Billie had a very compassionate heart and was committed to supporting the Salvation Army and the Austin Humane Society. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either of these organizations.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
