I just saw this and didn't know that Mrs. Herring has been gone for 10 years already. She was my grandmother's friend when both their husbands were stationed in Waco, Tx.  She also let me stay at her house for my last summer of my time at The University of Texas at Austin (1994).  She was a very thoughtful person and I think fondly of her often.  Sorry I didn't know she passed until now.  She was a lovely person. ❤❤ to her family.

Only another lady peace officer understands what it is like. I wish I could have worked with you and learned from you. You sound like a truly amazing person. Wonder what you would think about all the tech gadgets we have now. but nothing can substitute for common sense, paying attention, always start out polite & a whole lots of streetsmarts backed up by book smart!

was there. She was a friend and mother to everyone she met ; we loved to hear her laugh ; she loved her family very much especially her mother, and husband (TEX) .

Bobbie was a very good friend.  I knew her at Riverside Campus where we both worked.  She took her job seriously as Campus Security and did a great job.  She cared for people and helped anyone in need.  But she was also a fun person.  She will be missed.



I will always have fond memories of Bobbie.  The Rio Grande Campus of ACC was a special place because of her.  Bobbie was so kind, caring and helpful.  She had a ready smile and a kind word any time I saw her.  If there was a problem, she did everything she could to help.  The ACC Emeritus Association was blessed to have her as a member after her retirement.

I recall the time she wrecked her car.  She said, "I just glanced away for a second."  This was a devestating time for Bobbie, because her late husband had bought that car.  But with the strength she possessed, Bobbie moved on in life.

I pray for comfort and support for the family at this difficult time.



Bobbie was an incredible person - she knew everyone at the Rio Grande Campus of ACC, and everyone loved her.  She was one of the security officers and later supervisor of the department.  Loaded with common sense, good will, good humor, and support for everyone.  She even, upon occasion, cut my hair in the SecurityOffice.  We had great fun, and she was a HUGE part of what made our campus so special.  Her ACC family will never forget her.

My dad just told me about Bobbie passing.  Bobbie was a great lady.  I remember her hospitality.  She let me stay at her house during my last summer at The University of Texas in 1994.  I will always remember you and your family fondly.



For 60-odd years Bobbie Herring orbited my world:  In the beginning, I viewed her as a troublesome surrogate of sort, someone that stood first in line after my parents to administer corrective measures to my backside for misdeeds common to seven year old boys.  Then, in later years, I recognized her as a friend, co-worker, and confidante.  For one so short, she sure walked tall in the eyes of a lot of people.  What a privilege to have known her.  I'm putting her on my shortlist to have a 'meet' sometime a little farther down the road.  Till then, the Spanish say it best:  Vaya con dios, Bobbie.

I want to extend my condolences to the Herring family.  I had the pleasure of working with Bobbie at the DAO offices for Austin Community College. Bobbie was a great friend and a fantastic supervisor.  I could always count on her for a smile before beginning my shift.  She would even call during my shift ensuring my safety! Bobbie was always a bright light in our office.  We all enjoyed her very much and will miss her dearly.  It was a priveledge to care for her and  to partner with her in her care.  She cared for all of us, and those around her, as well!  I will think you Bobbie often, and smile.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of loss.  Bobbie is at peace, and we are all here for all of you!
