

Bobbie G. Herring, 81, passed away October 26, 2010 at Seton NW Hospital, Austin. She was born in Groesbeck, Texas March 4, l929, and was a resident of Austin since 1974. She was a Licensed Peace Officer and retired from Austin Community College in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross B. Herring, her mother, Vera D. Miller and her brother, Jack Stricklin. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Herring and her partner in life Fran Neely, her son James Herring, her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Artie Stricklin, three grandchildren: Heath Herring, Holland Werry and Hunter Herring; four great-grandchildren: Katlyn Herring, Jasper Werry, Jackson Werry and Lorelei Werry; three nieces: Maria Balboa, Marlene Dorn and Sharon Stricklin; and four nephews: Mark Stricklin, Rick Stricklin, Ron Stricklin and Scott Stricklin.
She loved to laugh and was a people person, never meeting someone as a stranger, but as a friend to be. She never failed to respond to a request for help and was always looking out for the other person. She was a devoted care-giver to both her husband and mother during their times of need and in her work was known to be someone that could be counted on in time of crisis.
Serving as pallbearers will be her son James Herring; grandsons: Heath Herring and Hunter Herring; and nephews: Rick Stricklin, Ron Stricklin, and Scott Stricklin.
Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Stephens and his nurse, Jenny, for many years of caring and to the staff of the Pavilion at Great Hills who both loved and cared for her in her new home with them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity or service of their choice.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31st at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1st at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery, in Waco at 2:00 pm.
