Bobby Ray Bearden

Bobby was born on October 27, 1934, as the youngest child to Ray and Hazel Bearden in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School. Bobby married Kathryn Swofford in September of 1953 and later had two sons, Bradley and Mark Bearden. He worked at his Uncle Bill’s gas station, then at Walter Tips before becoming Chief Engineer of Maintenance at the 11th and Brazos building of the Texas Highway Department. After a late night conversation with a coworker, Bobby, his dad, and his sons began a hog operation. After many years of working together they transitioned into farming, ranching and custom harvesting. He enjoyed living on his land on the Colorado River and was an accomplished mechanic who could, and did, fix any issue he came across. Along with his sons, he loved salt water fishing on the coast with his brother-in-law James Swofford, trips to Colorado for elk hunting, and deer hunting in Texas. He also built, raced, and won trophies with his drag racing car.

In addition to his parents, Ray and Hazel Bearden, Bobby was also preceded in death by his infant brother Robert Bearden, sister Catherine Dorough and brother-in-law Coney Dorough. He is survived by the mother of his children, Kathryn Senterfitt, his son Brad Bearden and wife Karalyn of Georgetown and son Mark Bearden and wife Glenda of Creedmoor. He was proud to be called Pawpaw by Daniel Bearden and fiancé Carly, Shannon Countryman and husband Craig, Kellie Thiem and husband Landan, and Matthew Bearden. Bobby is also survived by two great grandchildren, Madilyn and Samuel Countryman, as well as three nieces, Dinah, Jan, Jill, and their families.

He was loved and cherished by his family and his absence will be heavily felt.

A visitation for Bobby will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish South, 2620 South Congress Ave, Austin, Texas 78704. Funeral services to begin at 1:00pm. Graveside services will immediately follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 8698 E Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78744.
