

Carl Wayne Gossett, 66, passed away on November 5, 2012, surrounded by his wife and children in Austin, Texas. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend with a deep love of the outdoors.
Wayne was born on August 20, 1946 in Greenville, Texas to Robert and Patsy Gossett. He grew up in the Rio Grande Valley where he graduated from Mission High School in 1964. After high school, Wayne attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. During that time, he volunteered for the United States Army and served two years including service in Vietnam.
Upon completing his military service, Wayne returned to the Rio Grande Valley and graduated from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas in 1970. Following his parents commitment to education, he became a teacher of Biology at PSJA High School for six years. Wayne then joined Mission Paving Company where he served as Vice President for over 20 years.
Those who loved Wayne affectionately referred to him as "the Wayner". He enjoyed fishing and hunting and passed his love of nature on to his children and grandchildren. Wayne's favorite places included La Joya Lake, the Laguna Madre, and Costa Rica, as well as numerous deer leases around the Raymondville area.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Robert Wayne Gossett and Patsy Camp Gossett.
Wayne is survived by his wife and best friend, Norma Schroeder Gossett of Austin, Texas. Married in 1972 at the First United Methodist Church in Mission, Texas, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. Wayne is also survived by son, Carl Gossett; daughter, Susan Gossett Gravette and her husband Bill. The joy in Wayne's life was his three beautiful granddaughters, Olivia Jean Gravette, Margaret Susan Gravette, and Jane Abigail Gravette.
Also surviving Wayne are his brother, William Gossett and wife, Sherry, of Mission, Texas; niece, Kimberly Gossett; nephews Hunter Gossett; Brandon Hausenfluck; Tres Hausenfluck; Chad Hausenfluck, and Michael Standard. Wayne is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday, November 19, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ric Brown Funeral Home, 621 East Griffin Parkway, Mission, Texas.
