

Sandy Savino was born April 29, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas to Carl and Louise Alford Savino and passed away on October 31, 2010 at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Hudler.
Sandy graduated from Beaumont High School in 1963. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Sandy was invited to tryout camp for the Houston Astros and the St. Louis Cardinals. He graduated in 1969 from Lamar University with a BBA in Marketing. He was on the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers in the Rio Grande Valley, a certified SCUBA diver for thirty years, had an advanced certification with the peace officer’s agency, a Class “B” skydiving certification and was a licensed pilot.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Lulu Savino, the love of his life for thirty seven years. He is also survived by his son, Kenny Savino and daughter, Michele Bassett (Randy); grandchildren, Shelby, Ryan and Reed Bassett, all of Austin, Texas; and kitties, Silly Girl, Bitsy, Blanca, Shadow and Chulo.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Bassett, Moises P. Rivera, Jr., Juan Rivera, Gooley Rivera, Rick Rivera, Abel Hinojosa, Thomas Kendrick, Kenneth Young, Willie Hagar, Irv Liebling, and Mickey Amacker.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 and a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.
