Carol R. Mee, age 58, of Austin, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 10, 2004, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Carol had a zest for life that was unsurpassed. No one knew how to live life to the fullest as well as Carol! This was exemplified by her reaction when she was told about her breast cancer diagnosis. Carol promptly went skydiving. She continued to fulfill lifelong dreams during her treatment: she traveled to Bali, she swam with the whales, she followed her favorite rock and roll bands. While battling cancer she made sure she spent as much time with her friends as possible. Carol leaves behind many, many special friends in Recovery. She has helped countless women work a 12-step program to achieve sobriety. Carol loved her recovery family at Western Trails with all her heart. A special thanks to Dr. Myers and Dr. Dziuk and all the caregivers that have helped along the way. Additional thanks to Melanie, from IV Specialty; Jean, from Hospice Austin; and Nettie, from Life Made Easy. Carol was a mother of two, grandmother of two, stewardess, model, horsewoman, and involved in Oklahoma politics. She loved and supported the Austin music scene. Carol was a member of the Junior League. She was a vital participant in the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Support Group. She is survived by a host of friends who will always remember her as an indomitable spirit. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 17, 2004 at The Backyard, 13101 Hwy. 71 West, Austin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P. O. Box 2164, Austin, TX 78768. Arrangements by Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress, Austin, TX 78704 (512) 442-1446.
