

Charline Hazel Gregory Grimes, age 97, of Austin, died Friday, October 24, 2003. She was born March 5, 1906 in Beeville, Texas to Charles Hardy Gregory and Mollie Cannon Keller Gregory, a pioneer family in that area. She lived in Dallas with her first husband, Clarence Wurzlow. When he died in 1966, she returned to Austin and married Frank C. Grimes. They lived in Clifton, Texas until his death in 1992. Mrs. Grimes returned to Austin and has lived in the Summit until her death. She was a longtime member of University United Methodist Church and sang in the choir there and at St. Davids Episcopal Church under director, Lester Bernizer. She was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters and her parents. Survivors include the following nieces and nephews, Russell Gregory and wife, Kay, Mollie Tower, and Dr. Charles Gregory all of Austin, Peggy Brunner of San Marcos, Carolyn Gregory of Dripping Springs, Gordon Smith Jr. of Alice, Dr. Lloyd Gregory Jr. and Dr. Fred Gregory both of Houston, Mrs. Myrtle Huebner of Bay City, Mrs. Mary Hawes of Atlanta, Georgia, twenty-three great nieces and nephews and forty great-great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Lyn Brunner, John Hurst, Nathan Hurst, J.K. Leonard, Rusty Gregory, and Bobby Tannert. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the University United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Hill Park in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the University United Methodist Church Music Fund, 2409 Guadalupe, Austin, Texas, 78705.
