A shining light has gone out, but the warmth and love will continue to radiate in the hearts of those who knew and loved Cheryl Lynn Whitaker. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Cheryl peacefully passed away at the age of 79 in Cedar Park, TX, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and joy.
Born and raised in Arlington, TX, Cheryl grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and three siblings. Her life took on new meaning when she met the love of her life, Harold Whitaker, and they married in February 1968. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and three beautiful children, Wes, Heather, and Wendi.
Cheryl's sales career was marked by many achievements, but her most cherished roles were those of wife, mom, and Mimi, where she found her greatest happiness. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved, and her family and friends adored her for it.
Cheryl is survived by her beloved twin daughters, Heather Simon and her husband Bill, and Wendi Landwehr and her husband Rick. They brought immense joy and pride to her life. In addition to her daughters and their husbands, Cheryl is also survived by her wonderful sister Janice Retra, her sweet sister-in-law Nancy Hussey, and her amazing grandchildren Aidan Van Nostrand, Ty Landwehr, Nathan and Bailey Whitaker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. All of these loved ones were dearly loved by her and will deeply miss her.
While Cheryl's passing leaves a void, her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents Carole Spencer and Quentin Hussey, brother Quen Hussey, sister Shirlie Johnson, husband Harold Whitaker, and son Wes Whitaker.
Though her time with us has come to an end, her memory and legacy will shine on forever.
Services will be held at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral home and Memorial Park, in the Mausoleum, 6300 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, TX. 78749 (traffic is very heavy in this area) on Friday, November 22nd at 2pm with the reception following at Wendi’s house in Cedar Park.
