Chester epitomized public and customer service, and his dedication to his work was a true inspiration for all of us who were lucky enough to work with him at Austin Energy.  He was a true model of commitment to service.  I can still see him headed out the door at West Ave after an outage call, moving fast, two radios in hand and keys at the ready.  He was an inspiration.

If a messy desk is an indication of how hard a person works then no one worked harder than Chester. Seriously though he was dedicated to the Utility 110%. When working around the clock during storm restorations Chester was always out there with the crews doing whatever it took to get the customers back on. He earned the respect of us linemen. I don't mind saying we loved the man!

Chester was an incredibly strong and independent man.  I was amazed at how well he managed his illness with a combination of resourcefulness and sheer will power.  I will miss him.

I had the good fortune to work with Chester at the City of Austin Electric Department (as it was called then) from 1984 to 1987 when he retired.  I always enjoyed working with him because he was a fair man and a straight shooter. Rest in peace Chester.
