Christene Porter Lewis was born in Austin, Texas, to Henry and Ruth Lee Porter on July 7, 1957. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church (Austin, Texas), where her spirit of service and her joyful heart touched many.
In 2015, Christene proudly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, an achievement she completed with incredible determination—attending school for four straight years without missing a single day, which she was very proud of.
Christene was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2017 and later with breast cancer in 2021, but through every trial, she remained unwavering in her faith and fighting spirit. A true warrior, she never let illness define her joy, her purpose, or the love she gave to others. Christene's heart was always fullest when she was surrounded by loved ones. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—gatherings, celebrations, and especially in preparing thoughtful goodie bags for every party, a true reflection of her giving nature.
Her caring heart and generous spirit have left a lasting legacy, one that lives on through cherished memories and the many lives she touched. Her family will forever remember her as a woman of faith, strength, and unconditional love.
Christene was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:41 pm.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Henry Porter, Jr., and is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
She is survived by her four beloved children, Sonya Johnson (Dennis I) of Copperas Cove, TX, Anthony Porter (Amber) of Taylor, TX, Aaron Lewis Jr. (Rose Garrett) of Round Rock, TX, and Shirelle Lewis (Joseph Johnson III) of Pflugerville, TX; seven grandchildren, Briana, Dennis II, Jaylen, Tyree, Keysha, Jayceon, and Jaxson; five great grandchildren, Dennis III, Aria, Milo, Kayleb, and Kaellen; seven siblings, Shirley, Robert Sr., James Sr., Laverne, Melvin, Ricky Sr., and Brenda., and a host of other family members who will sadly miss her.
Christene’s life was a blessing to all who knew her. Her memory will be held close in the hearts of her children, extended family, friends, and church family.
