

She grew up in Temple and Waco. She moved to Corsicana after high school graduation. The same day she moved to Corsicana, Walter Anderson James moved in next door. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton. She married Walter Anderson James on August 11, 1941 in Ennis and they moved to Austin. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 19 years.
She will be remembered for her wit, spirit and artistic talent and ability. She volunteered for many years for the Lower Colorado Lakes Girl Scout Council in various capacities, including Day Camp Director. In the dog show community, she showed dogs throughout the southwest and Westminster. She served as president of the Austin Kennel Club. Walter was Superintendent and Clarice was show secretary of Moss Dog Shows. She was instrumental in reviving Columbus Fancy Canaries in coordination with breeders in England. She won the highest award 'The Kellogg' at the national show in Detroit, Michigan. She served on the Austin Area Garden Council Board. She especially enjoyed the Austin Area Begonia Society. After 51years together, Walter died August 29, 1992.
Special thanks to all her dear friends who she loved. Her closest friend, Valerie Morris was a joy to her. She loved her family and they loved her including: her daughter, Kathey Hatcher and her husband Keith of McDade, TX; grandson, Eric Hatcher and his wife Shine-Ann; great-grandchildren Shawn and Sydney Hatcher all of Austin, TX.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the chapel at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Memorial Park in Pflugerville.
