Clyde Wayne Koenig was no ordinary man. In fact, he was quite extraordinary in many ways. Clyde passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 14, 2022. And while his life here has ended, the ripple effect of his love and friendship is still going strong.
Clyde was born on February 19, 1937 to Anita and Elmer Koenig in Sharp, Texas. He was brought up on a farm with his three brothers. Clyde was bright and sought opportunities to learn and grow and use his skills. This led him to join the U.S. Navy in 1957 where he had an outstanding career, earning many awards and metals for his achievements. After 20 years of service, Clyde retired from the Navy in 1977. But he was not done learning!
Clyde took advantage of the GI Bill to go back to school and received a degree in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981, followed by an outstanding career as a very successful design engineer. But his greatest achievements are best defined by his love for his wife, his children, grandchildren and his friends. He loved opportunities to gather with friends and share a glass of wine and a few stories. His smile lit up the room whenever he walked in!
Clyde was always most at home in nature… either on his bike with a group of friends, walking his dog in his neighborhood, driving his boat on the lake, or working on the tractor at the ranch. And he loved to travel the world with Rejane and Kirian.
Clyde is survived by the love of his life, Rejane; two brothers, Leon and Floyd; his chidren, Wayne, Deborah, Lisa, Sheila and Marie-Andree; his grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Nicole, Jaime, Kirian, Sebastian and Jackson; and many other friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 2:00pm at the Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills funeral home on Anderson Mill Rd. in Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Austin Speech Labs in Clyde’s honor (https://bit.ly/DonateforClyde).
