David Joseph Devine

David Joseph Devine was called home to his Heavenly Father on September 18, 2017 at Lou’s House Assisted Living Center in Austin, Texas. He was born on June 11, 1943 in Johnson City, New York to Joseph Salamida and Angela (DiSerio) Devine.

David grew up in Vestal, New York. He graduated from Vestal High School in 1961. After high school he received an Associate Degree in Business from Broome Community College. David was employed by IBM both in Endicott and Austin for 30 years.

David married Carol (Katchuk) Devine in 1966 in Owego, New York. They were happily married for 51 years. David was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Elks Lodge in Endicott, New York. He enjoyed weight lifting and welding.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Salamida & Angela Devine, Step-mother, Yonella Salamida, Step-father, Daniel Devine.

David is survived by his wife Carol of Austin; daughter Teresa (Everett) Beldin of Pflugerville, Texas; son David (Luisa) Devine of Austin, Texas; Step-sister Janine Salamida of Florence, Italy; grandchildren Hunter, Gabriel and Breanna Beldin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78750 on Sunday, September 24, 2017 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 9500 Neenah Avenue, Austin, Texas 78717 at 10:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2017. Burial will follow, on September 25, 2017 at 2:15 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, 330 Berry Lane, Georgetown, Texas 78626.

The family asks that you wear of hint of red in honor of David.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
