

David Alan Shofner was born April 30, 1947 in Temple to Texas Senator William (WA) and Norma (Wells) Shofner. David married Marion Brade on May 8, 1971 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas. He departed this life on Monday, October 24, 2016 in Austin reaching the age of 69.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 30th at Lions Municipal Golf Course, Enfield and Exposition, Austin.
David's passion for golf developed at an early age. His father would many times catch him skipping high school to pursue his passion. Later in life, he began sharing this passion by becoming a golf pro and teaching many the game of golf including several years at the Austin Junior Academy. He loved to teach students that had the same passion for golf as he did. He spent most of his golf career working at Lions Golf Course, and he was well respected in the golf community for his passion, professionalism, friendliness and knowledge of the game.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marion Shofner of Pflugerville. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn and husband Frank McReynolds of Tucson, Arizona, and Diana and husband John Lamphear of Leander. He is also survived by his step-sister, Sharon and husband Homer Riley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and step-brother, Walker and wife Pat Dunn of Midland. He also is survived by his sisters-in-law, Carol Koenig of Elgin, Jeanette and husband Ricky Mattiza of Houston. He also has numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pet Andie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Mona Shofner, parents-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Brade and brother-in-law, Edward Koenig.
