With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Davidica C. Pitia, who left us peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 62. Davidica was a woman of unparalleled kindness, grace, and generosity, whose love touched everyone around her. She will be remembered not only for her warm and gentle spirit but for the profound impact she had on her family, friends, and community.
Davidica was born on January 1, 1962, in Juba, South Sudan, to the late Ustaz Charles Lado Pitia of the Sera Clan and the late Mama Elizabeth Kaku Christopher of the Borolo Clan. She was the fourth of their children and was raised with love, respect, and a deep sense of community.
Davidica's educational journey was one marked by her dedication to learning and personal growth. She attended primary school from 1969 to 1976 in Wad Medani, Nzara, and Mayo, and went on to complete her secondary education at Aboudia Intermediate School in Juba (1977-1980) and Juba Girls Secondary School (1981-1984). In 1985, she earned a Bachelor of Education in Geography from Zagazeeg University, a proud achievement that reflected her commitment to her education and future.
Beyond her academic accomplishments, Davidica was known for the way she lived her life. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and important. Her warm smile and gentle demeanor brought comfort to those around her, and she had a remarkable ability to offer support, love, and guidance whenever it was needed. Whether it was comforting a friend in times of sorrow or sharing a laugh with family, Davidica’s presence was always a blessing.
She was a loving wife to her husband, Omar Ali, and a devoted mother to her daughter, Elizabeth Anney Ali. Davidica was the epitome of unconditional love, and her family was the center of her world. Her love extended to her siblings-Dr. John Charles, Fidensia Charles, Henry Charles, and Rita Charles—who were always by her side, sharing in both joy and hardship. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Clara Charles and Ever Charles, but they will always be remembered in her heart.
Davidica’s warmth extended far beyond her family. She was a treasured friend and an integral part of the community in Austin, Texas, where she lived for many years. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and selflessness touched the lives of everyone she met. She was the kind of person who made you feel seen, heard, and valued. Her home was always open to those in need, and she offered a comforting word, a helping hand, or simply a listening ear to anyone who needed it.

Her daughter, Anney, shared this loving tribute:
“Mom was sweet, caring, kind, smart, beautiful, warm, and always protective of me. I will forever cherish the memory of her looking for her glasses only to realize they were resting on her head. Her laughter will forever echo in my heart.”
A Special Message from the Men, Women, and Children of Her Community:
“The men, women, and children of our community will never forget the impact Davidica had on our lives. She was a beacon of strength, compassion, and love. We admired her for the way she gave selflessly, always there to support others in their time of need.
