Deborah Hopkins Gottschalk

A native of Texas, Mom is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Don Gottschalk, four children, Chad Gottschalk, DawnAnne Bodon (Nomar), Sherlyn Gottschalk and Kathryn Weniger (Brad) and five grandchildren, Sammy, Annie, Bennett, James and Hannah; one sister, Donna Tait (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Doris Hopkins, her brother James Hopkins and three grandchildren, Manna, Elodie and Remy. Mom graduated from University of Texas and taught Kindergarten for 32+years. She was well-beloved by students and staff alike. Mom enjoyed spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren), friends and animals. Mom made everyone she met feel special and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

She will be greatly missed down here on earth but we know she is with her Savior in Heaven and we will see her again. Acts 16:31 “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved…” Mom would want you to put your faith in Jesus Christ so that you might be in Heaven with her someday. In lieu of flowers, Mom would want you to donate monetary gifts or children’s books to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held this Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6300 W William Canon Dr. Austin, Texas from 9:00 am -11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lake Victor, Texas.
