Dennis Francis Holecek

Dennis Francis Holecek passed away June 20, 2017, at the age of 63. Dennis was born in Austin, Texas on May 31, 1954. He attended and served as an altar boy at St. Mary's Cathedral School, graduated from Austin High School, and remained a faithful Longhorn fan after attending the University of Texas. He was a dedicated employee for the Galveston County Sheriff's Department for over 20 years, retiring in 2007. Throughout his career and beyond, he prepared tax returns for his friends and family, never accepting payment for his services but he wouldn't turn down the occasional fishing trip or tickets to an Astros or Cowboys game. Dennis never met a stranger. He enjoyed many conversations with his neighbors while taking Xena, his dog and favorite companion, for their daily walks. Dennis especially enjoyed his outings with his good friend Edna, the family's long time neighbor. He loved sitting on his front porch listening to Sports Radio and always had a wave for passerby. He was greeted at the Heavenly gates by his parents, Victor Jacob Holecek and Victoria Eva Holecek; probably with a plate of chocolate chip cookies in hand. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Holecek (Seabrook, Texas); brother, James Holecek (Cedar Park, Texas); sister, Kathie McClanahan (Galveston, Texas); nieces and nephews - Kenneth Holecek and wife Jennifer (Cedar Park, Texas); Mark Holecek (Cedar Park, Texas); Susan Ewing and husband Todd (Round Rock, Texas); Sharon Morales and husband Fernando (Pearland, Texas); Christopher McClanahan and wife Cindy (Katy, Texas); Jeff McClanahan and wife Lori (Roanoke, Texas); Courtney Junemann and husband Chris (Bacliff, Texas); Brandy McClanahan (Texas City, Texas); David McClanahan (Dallas, Texas); and Dennis McClanahan (Houston, Texas); many great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of lifelong friends. The family will receive visitors for a viewing starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, followed by services at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dennis' name to the SPCA of Texas.
