Dionicia L. Mendez

Dionicia Lopez Mendez, 87 of Hutto, Texas was born on December 6, 1927. She resided in Austin and was an original home owner of Rainey Street. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away June 19, 2015 at home surrounded by family, many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elias A. Mendez, Sr. of 66 years, one sister, four brothers, one son and two grandsons.

Dionicia was a longtime member of Temple Bethel Pentecoste (Rev. Josue Sanchez). Being the legend and mother to many members (and as her second family) she is honored each year on December 11th.

She is survived by daughters Jesusita Rizo, Margaret Lara, Mary Ybarra (Robert, Sr.), Rosie Hernandez (Raymond, Sr.), Irene Lozano (Adolfo, Sr.), Lydia Ybarra (Jesse, Sr.), Christine Mancias, sons Sergio Mendez (Delores), and Elias Mendez, Jr. ,along with 32 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on June 22, 2015 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX. A Christian Service will be held at Temple Bethel Pentecoste, 2320 Santa Maria, St. Austin, TX 78702 on June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow after at Cook- Walden Capital Park Cemetery.
