Dolores was a devout Christian, and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in South Austin. She was born and raised in Austin, and spent nearly her entire life in South Austin. Dolores graduated from the original Austin High School in 1950. She married a young home builder, B.T. Webb, and had three children, Larry, Stanley and Suzi, over the next four years.
Dolores spent her early career working as an Interior Decorator in and around Austin. She would decorate the homes and apartments that her husband B.T. would build. Later in life Dolores decided she wanted a regular eight to five job, so she went to work for the IRS. Dolores spent over 15 years at the IRS, then retired to spend her senior years at her home in Barton Hills. Dolores was ‘Mom’ to numerous kids in and around South Austin, especially during her children’s high school years. Everyone was always welcome at the Webb house.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, B.T., who left us in 1989, and her oldest son, Larry, who passed in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Vernon Sobeck of Austin. She is survived by her middle son, Stan from Tempe, Arizona, her daughter, Suzi, from Lake Travis, and her grandson, Russell and his wife, Wendy, and sons Parker and Max, from Driftwood. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Lynch and husband Charles, from Rockdale, her aunt, Lucille Lancaster and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dolores and her family wish to express our most sincere thanks and appreciation to Brookdale Hospice, who cared for her during her final days, and to Kathe Hunter, who was Dolores’ live-in caregiver once she came back home for the final time. We also must thank Dolores’ neighbors in Barton Hills, Maggie and Kenny Fuglsang on the right, and Kay and Phil Sanders on the left, who looked in on Dolores and kept her safe during her final years on this earth. The Webb family also must thank everyone up and down her street for taking Care of Dolores’ cat, JoJo, when Dolores was unable to. At least three families have volunteered to adopt JoJo for the rest of his nine lives.
A Celebration of Dolores’ Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4600 Manchaca Road with Pastor Russell Allen officiating.
Mom always supported Meals on Wheels, volunteering to deliver meals to the elderly back in the 90’s. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Meals on Wheels in her name.
