Donald (“Donnie”) Joe Camp, J.D., age 64, of Austin, Texas passed away May 5, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Doyle Camp; his paternal and maternal grandparents; his mother-in-law, Jerree D. Kiplin; and, his brother-in-law, Craig Kiplin. He was born November 1, 1953 in Snyder, Texas.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kimberly L. Kiplin; daughters Kathryn E. Camp and Allison L. Camp, and son Patrick T. Camp; mother, Virginia Camp; father-in-law, Lydell C. Kiplin and Betty Ann Adams; sister Carla Nutt and husband David; sister Ellen Whitmire and husband Kent; sister-in-law Mila Castro, numerous nieces and nephews; and, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Donnie was a two-time graduate of Texas Tech University, holding a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Donnie was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He lived a full and vibrant life and impacted countless others. His quick wit and outrageous sense of humor filled every room he entered. His infectious laughter and positive attitude had a way of lifting you up even in your darkest moments. He was a one of a kind wacky dude, from his love of Tom Waits and Puddles to his Texas Tech Red Raider pride and fierce collection of silly hats. He was an incredibly talented and successful engineer and lawyer. His love and devotion for his family and friends was unparalleled. He was full of integrity and was never ashamed to speak up for what he believed in.
Donnie was a man of infinite patience and true inspiration to his children, always supportive of their interests and ambitions, and very proud of them.
We will miss him terribly, but we know he is in a better place now, and we will be with him again.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Celebration of Donnie’s Life will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
Honoring Donnie as pallbearers will be Gerald Lindenmuth, Josh Whitmire, Matt Whitmire, Kent Whitmire, David Nutt, and Curtis Aycock.
