

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Johnson, who departed this life at the age of 67 in February 2025. Don was a beloved father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don was a longtime landman in Texas with significant knowledge of the oil and gas business. He was highly respected in his field and took great pride in his work.
Don was a member of the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Texas and a lifetime member of the University of Texas Alumni.
Outside of his profession, he had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and fishing, firepits, and cherished family time. In his later years, he embarked on many fabulous trips with his long-term companion, Norma Garza, creating lasting memories together.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Blair Johnson of Austin, TX. His brother Dick Johnson and wife Laura of San Antonio, brother Doug Johnson and partner Donna of Austin, and his sister, Ellen Eakin and husband John of Dallas and sister Amy Szewczyk and husband Eric of Austin. Also, surviving are nephews Boone, Blake, Charlie and nieces Kristen, Mary Margaret, Claire. Don is pre-deceased by his father Dr. Gerald Johnson, mother Peggy Welch and nephew Travis Swan. Don’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who cherished his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Don touched many lives with his warmth and generosity. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his legacy will endure in the countless memories shared by those who loved him.
A service to honor and celebrate Don’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
