

She was born to George Washington Fields and Pluma Jo Fields on July 29, 1925, in Elk City, Oklahoma and was raised in Lancaster, Texas, where she went to elementary school through high school.
She met Emmett Glosson in Austin, Texas after she moved from Lancaster, TX to live with her sister. Their first date was at Camp Ben McCullough and they went with Jean & Martin Keller to the Old Settlers Reunion. They married on June 20, 1943, the day before Emmett turned 18, a month and 8 days before Dorothy turned 18. Emmett was drafted 3 months after they married and left on 9/11/1943 to serve his country. They lost their first baby, George Emmett Glosson, after carrying him full term. After World War II Emmett came home from the war, they had two children, Sandra Glosson Robinson and Joe Allen Glosson. Dorothy gave birth to Sandra on her birthday and gave birth to Joe on Emmett’s birthday. What special times she had on the birthdays. She also had a Granddaughter born on her birthday, Jody Glosson. Three generations on the same day.
She went to Cosmetology School and was a hair stylist for twenty years after being a stay home Mother and caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Emmett Glosson, two children, Sandra Glosson Robinson, husband, Hank Robinson and Joe Glosson, wife, Jackie Glosson. Grandchildren, Kevin Gell (Lisa), Cheryl Short (Rob), Connie Robinson, Elizabeth Pharies (Joe), Robby Robinson, Jason Glosson (Julie), Jody Glosson (Logan). She has 36 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by one brother, CC Fields (Mary) of Hutchins, TX. There were 14 children in her family. She is also survived by Emmett’s family of 12 brothers and sisters (2 brothers & one sister have passed) which she loved with all her heart. She has many nieces and nephews that she also loved dearly.
She was “Three Times A Lady”. She grew up in the cotton field and rose up to become one of the finest, sweetest, and most refined lady her family and friends could ever have. She was truly a lady. She will be missed by all who have special memories of this sweet woman. She and Emmett are known as the “Darlings of GT” (Church of Glad Tidings) where they are members for the past thirty years. They previously were members of First Assembly of God for forty years as a couple. She always enjoyed being with her family, friends and her Super Seniors group at church, and of course, her loving husband, and children.
We would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at St. David’s Round Rock Hospital, Dr. Lux, Dr. Borick, Dr. Welch and Dr. Gambarin for their professional care and assistance. Also, we thank Pastor Vic and Naomi Schober (Super Senior Pastor), Shirley Strebbing, Mark Summers, and Pastor Kermit and Cindy Bell, the Church of Glad Tidings, and all our friends for their many visits and prayers.
Visitation will be at Cook Walden Funeral Home at 6100 North Lamar Blvd from 6:00-9:00pm on September 4, 2013. Funeral arrangements have been made for September 5, 2013 at GT Austin (Church of Glad Tidings) at 2700 Northland Dr. and Shoal Creek Blvd. at 11:00am. Funeral procession will follow services and entombment will be at Cook Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery on IH35 in Pflugerville.
