Dovie Irene Prather Huff

Dovie Irene Prather Huff “Together again” Dovie I. Huff, age 96, was called by her heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, to join her departed loved ones in heaven. She was born on November 14, 1906, to Thomas I. Prather and Sadie Phillips Prather in Cedar Valley, Texas. She was raised in the Cedar Valley and Fitzhugh area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Wm. Floyd Huff, on July 22, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, E.I. “Gene” Prather and Francis Martin Prather; and sisters, Ora Mae Prather, Beulah Pinkerton and Novella Sandberg. She leaves behind her loving sister and caregiver, Sadie V. Fannon; sister-in-law, Mada Prather; nephew, Michael Prather and wife Pat; great-nephews, Gregg Tarpley and wife Tammy, Jon Prather and wife Amy, Scott Newton and wife Margaret, Mark Prather and wife Kimberly, Paul Newton and wife Jenny, and Clay Newton; also two great-great nephews and four great-great nieces. Dovie enjoyed many adventures during her years with Floyd; from living in the basement of the State Health Department while Floyd did rabies tests on animals and humans to running a children’s amusement park on Barton Springs Road. They spent many, many Saturdays visiting garage sales throughout the Central Texas area. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2003, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with Pastor Walter Harms officiating. Burial will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery.
