Earnis Moris, Jr. was born August 22, 1934 in St. Joseph, Louisiana to the late Thomas and Priscilla Morris. He was the oldest of 11 siblings, five of who preceded him in death (Cleola, Thomas, Addie, Aaron, and Johnny).
Earnis attended the St. Joseph Public School System. Following completion of his education, Earnis enlisted in the United States Airforce, where he served his Country for 20 years. His final assignment was at the Bergstrom Airforce Base, Austin Texas. He received an honorable military discharge in 1974.
Earnis made Austin, Texas his permanent home after retiring from the United States Airforce. He was employed as a Constable for Precinct 1 and retired from the Austin Independent School District as a Resource Officer.
Earnis joined the Zion Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor H.E. Smith. Under the pastoral leadership of current Pastor R.E. Foster, Earnis joined the usher ministry in the church. He was a faithful member until his health began to fail.
Earnis enjoyed life and loved entertainment. He had a great passion for music. Earnis organized several bands, owned several clubs which headlined a number of professional musical artists, and he accepted numerous invitations to provide music for many different occasions.
Earnis loved gatherings with family and friends. After the death of his father, he encouraged the family to start having family reunions. This led to a long-term tradition which has continued 25+ years.
Earnis was a member of the Uniques, a friendship club formed of military retirees. There were numerous picnics, banquets, and dances which many enjoyed.
Earnis departed this life in the early morning hour on Monday, July 27, 2020. Two children preceded him in death (Anita Esaka and Lester Moris).
Earnis leaves to cherish his wife, Cherlyn Augustine Moris; Children: Michelle Moris, St. Louis Missouri, Marie Moris-Barnard (Frank Durling), Port Hueneme, CA., Kenny Moris, Silverspring, MD, Marcus Yarns, Sacramento, CA., Ernest Moris Jr., Chicago, IL, Sigrid Reed (Samuel) Houston, Texas, Darrell Buckley, Portland, Oregon: Sisters: Marjorie Day (Charley) Tallulah, Louisiana, Brenda Morris and Lavern Mitchell, Austin, Texas; Brothers: Larry Morris, (Sarah), Tallulah, Louisiana and Charles Morris (Vanessa), Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Sister-in-laws: Margaret Morris and Cynthia Morris, Las Vegas, Nevada: 15 grandchildren (Anthony, Kayla, Tasha, Brian, Jordin, Lindsey, Sherell, Sierra, Marcus Jr., Ebony, Raichal, Carrington, Kei-jian, Darrell, Jayce), 6 great grandchildren Anthony Jr, Anthoni, Avery, Wyatt, Destiny, Leahla), one god-son (Jamal) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
