Ed was a longtime Austin resident which included graduating from McCallum High School in 1960 and working construction on the building of the original Palmer Auditorium while in high school. After high school Ed spent the next four years serving his country in the Air Force. In 1973, Ed became a local business owner of an automotive repair shop. That career as a mechanic and owner spanned over 35 years.
Ed’s true passion was racing and going fast. From racing go karts as a teen to AA Fuel and Top Fuel dragsters and IMSA/SCCA to most recently going over 300 MPH in one of his two jet dragsters, going fast was a constant pursuit.
Ed is survived by his son Eddie, daughter in law Jana and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to JDRF at jdrf.org
A memorial service will be held at Cook Walden Funeral home, 6100 N. Lamar on August 11th at 10:00 am.
