Frank Edwin Rundell, Jr was his birth name given by his parents Frank and Nelda on August 4, 1946, in Austin, Texas. To family, friends and Martha, his wife of 56 years, he was always Eddy. His children, Natalie and Neal, called him dad. But to those he cherished, his granddaughters, Rylie, Avery and Klaire, he was lovingly called PAPA.
Eddy graduated from McCallum High School, attended Southwestern University until he entered the National Guard and upon his return attended what was then Southwest Texas, now Texas State. His life’s work was in printing at Whitley, Lithoprint and the University of Texas. In retirement, his favorite job/hobby/ pastime was at the card shop, Card Traders of Austin.
Eddy was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the Baylor Bears. He watched a few Aggie games with the A&M graduate Rylie. He loved watching Avery and Klaire play volleyball and basketball for the Archers and the Griffins. When he wasn’t watching sports, he loved being in the yard or in his home office listening to music. Of his varied collections, the Beatles were his favorite.
He looked forward to his favorite meal of Thanksgiving followed by a close second, El Patio’s enchiladas. He enjoyed a pecan pie, lemon pie, and most any root beer.
Upon his passing late evening August 18, Eddy will most importantly be remembered as a truly good man, a family man, soft spoken, generous and kind-hearted. We who loved him will miss him dearly until we are together again.
A celebration gathering for Eddy will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, Tx 78752.
