October 15, 1945 – June 10, 2025
Elinor Jane Lucksinger Francis, known lovingly as Jane, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 79. Born and raised in Austin, Jane was the daughter of R.A. and Mary Lucksinger. After graduating from Austin High School in 1963, she attended Gulf Park Junior College in Mississippi and later earned her degree in Education from the University of Texas — a proud Longhorn through and through.
In August 1967, Jane married James Kenneth Francis, beginning a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they raised three daughters: Mary Claire, Laurie, and Susan. From Tulsa, Oklahoma, to their beloved home in Austin, Jane created a warm and welcoming life centered on family, faith, and community.
Jane was the heart of every gathering. She loved to cook, travel, entertain, and especially play games — her quick wit and laughter lighting up the room. She delighted in living a good life: a delicious meal shared, a card game with friends, and moments spent with her grandchildren.
She gave freely of her time and heart, volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul through St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Her faith was quiet but steadfast, and her kindness touched countless lives.
Jane is survived by her husband, Ken Francis; sister, Ann Helm of Portland, Oregon; her daughters, Mary Claire David, Laurie Crawford, and Susan Francis; her son-in-law, Tyler Crawford; and her beloved grandchildren: Hunter David, Tucker Crawford, Caroline Crawford, and Marshall Crawford. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ben David.
Her legacy is one of love, faith, generosity, and joy. Jane lived life with grace, humor, and an open heart — and those who knew her will carry her spirit with them always.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Jane’s memory.
