She is survived by her loving niece, Vicki Delgado and husband Reynolds of Sugar Land, TX, nephew, William McMunn Jr. of San Antonio, son, Alfred Knopp and wife Linda of Austin, Vicki Johnson and husband Perry Johnson of Sargent, TX. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Michael Knopp of Austin, Andrew Knopp of North Carolina, Jeffrey Knopp of Killeen, TX, Todd Johnson of Phoenix, Cali Wood and husband Mark of Kingwood, TX, and great grandchildren, Diamond Yanis, Elizabeth Knopp, Abigale Knopp, and Caden Knopp all of Austin, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
At the time of Estelle’s death, she had resided for the past three and half years in assisted living at Heartland in Austin where she and family loved the special folks who cared for her in Assisted Living. After a brief stay in Skilled Nursing, Estelle went to join her entire generation who has welcomed her home.
Estelle and her family lived next door to the schoolhouse which is now the Boerne City Hall. She graduated from Boerne High. She worked hard all her life and especially after her husband, Al, was disabled by a stroke in the 1970's. Vicki, Estelle’s niece recalls that her fondest childhood memories were staying with her Aunt Stella and Uncle Al out on the Cromwell Ranch in Wimberley where her husband Al was the foreman. While at the ranch, memories include riding horses, swimming in the Guadalupe, feeding fawns with baby bottles, Friday night rodeos, and making crafts which all adds up to tremendous fun. In the early 50's Estelle and Al moved to Austin, where Estelle went to work for Franzetti Insurance Co. In the late 50’s, Estelle and Al adopted their two children who they spoiled in their early years with many activities and unconditional love. Years later she worked for Austin ISD in the food service department. Estelle and family lived in Austin on Genard St. where neighbors were like family.
Estelle was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters. Her husband Al was an active member of the Knights of Columbus which included every Wednesday night playing bingo at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Vicki, Estelle’s daughter will always cherish the quality time spent with her mother hauling her around to dancing, twirling, twirling competitions, and piano lessons to name a few. Both children and the entire family have fond memories visiting their Uncle Henry and Aunt Dorothy at their Boerne ranch. Once grandchildren came along, you’d always find ‘Granny’ cooking and feeding the children. The love she showed to children was evident as she took a bunch of them to the swimming pool daily during the summer, cookie making with granddaughter Cali, and lots of unconditional love.
Over the years Estelle kept us all laughing. She had so many stories to tell as well as a good joke. We loved this beautiful lady, we will miss you.
