

Francis "Frank" Stockwell, age 84, passed away August 14, 2014 at Colonial Gardens, Austin, TX. Frank was born on December 10, 1929 in Henderson, NY. After completing high school, He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served from 1947 to 1956 with the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, HI and later in Bainbridge, MD as a machine accountant second class. During his service he was awarded three Good Conduct Medals and a National Defense Service Medal.
After his discharge from the Navy, Frank moved to Connecticut with his wife Laurel and began a career in computers as a programmer and systems analyst. He worked for several companies including A. C. Gilbert Company, Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool and Stanadyne Corporation. In 1983 Frank and his wife Laurel relocated to New Bern, NC where Frank worked for Moen until his retirement in 1992.
Besides his love for his dear wife, Laurel, and his two daughters, he was passionate about cooking and entertaining family and friends, listening to music, gardening and solving crossword puzzles. He was also an avid collector of stamps and coins.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Laurel Stockwell, his parents Lyndon and Margaret Stockwell and his two brothers, Frederick and Richard. Frank is survived by his daughter, Beth Edwards of Racine, WI; daughter Susan Fletcher and husband Nick Fletcher of Austin, TX and his granddaughter Jessica Edwards and grandson William Edwards both of Milwaukee, WI.
The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Colonial Gardens for their care of our beloved Father.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Frank Stockwell will be held at St David's Episcopal Church, 301 E 8th Street, Austin, TX on August 29th at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow hosted by the family at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
