Fredrick "Rick" Lathers, aka "Beast on East", died unexpectedly Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born on September 9, 1966 in Heidelberg, Germany. Rick was the iconic happy hour bartender at The Chuggin' Monkey and Darwin's, and always made everyone feel immediately at home. Always ready with a(n often racy) joke and big smile, he made an impact on many people's lives; always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone he met.
A viewing and visitation is set for Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704. Attendees are invited to bring photos or other mementos of Rick, and share stories and memories.
He is survived by his brothers, Roy, Frank, and Erich, and sisters-in-law Kim Mickelson and Dr. Sam Westock, and his uncle and aunt, Harry and Mary Lee Lind, and extended family across the U.S. and Germany. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank Lathers, Jr., and Elisabeth Holzhacker Lathers.
