Gayle Ragland

Billie Gayle Leggett Ragland was born March 27, 1925, in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Mack and Fannie Leggett. She grew up in the Abilene area, and spent many years working as a bookkeeper with Sisco Grocery Corporation.

On November 9, 1950, she married Edwin Eugene Ragland and she had two daughters, Mary Jane and Rebecca Gayle. She was a fun-loving and devoted wife, mother, “grandmom”, “great-grandmommy” and friend. Her family and friends will always be grateful for the gift that was her life. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and watching them play.

She passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2016 at 91 years of age. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, her two daughters and two brothers, Charlie and Dewey Baker. Those who mourn her death include her son-in-law Zack R. Shropshire, her grandchildren, Cody and Jennifer Shropshire and Casey and Eric Friesenhahn, and her great-grandchildren, Becca, Nick, and Preston Shropshire; Seth, Avery, Cash and Jack Friesenhahn. She will be missed by all.

Services will be held at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Sunday, August 21, at 3pm. Graveside services will follow immediately, at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas.
