Querida Georgette:
No puedes imaginar los mucho que te echamos de meno en nuestra mesa panamericana de Austin.  Tu eras y siempre seras una estrella linda y luminosa en nuestros corazones.  Te queremos tanto por tu alegria, tu amistad,  tu animo, tu bondad, tu inteligencia, tus lindas palabras, y todos los gratos recuerdos que tenemos de todas las reuniones, almuerzos, cafe espanoles y tertulias qu tuvimos contigo.  A toda tu familia y especialmente a tu querido Virgilio mi mas sentido pesame.

Fashion my mom and me; My mother has a great sense of fashion, and for my earlier years she always dressed me and made 98.9% of all the dresses I ever wore in my life ( it wasn't many). There was even a time my mother made me a matching dress to what she was wearing. Circa 1974 my mother lost her fashion battle with me due to an unexpected accessory. Thanks to Nestor Suarez Ojeda who gave me "futbol" shoes! (real Addidas, 3 strip, metal stud cleats. ) I wore these cleats every day, everywhere. Yes there I was in my Sunday best, and my futbol shoes, click, click, click every step I made.  I think that is when my mother knew that dresses were just not going to be a thing with me. Last one I wore was in 1995 my mother made it for me. Love you mom.

La moda y mi mama; Mi mama tenia un gran sentido de moda, elegante, y siempre bien puesta. Yo menos, y no me gustaba los vestidos.  Sin embargo mi mama me hacia vestidos, y me vestia de joven. Hasta ha foto en que tengo un vestido igual a la de ella. El año seria mas o menos 1974, y en ese año un amigo de la familia  Nestor Suarez Ojeda, me regalo zapatos para el futbol, yo jugaba y bastante bien. Pase ese año usando mis zapatos todos los días, aunque fuera Domingo y estuviera en vestido. Fue ese año que mi Mama se dio cuenta que yo y los vestidos no íbamos a funcionar. Me hizo mi ultimo vestido en 1995. 

My, father, my aunt Amira Escutia, my children and I will always remember my aunt Georgette as an educated, caring, dedicated and loving aunt. We share our uncle, cousins and family’s grief and hope for acceptance in the belief that she is in a better place.

Dear Escutia family,
My deepest condolences at this difficult time. I met Georgette through the Pan American Round Table of Austin and she instantly became one of my favorite members. What a beautiful, extraordinary, and generous soul! My life has been enriched because I knew her and learned so much from our conversations. She gifted me one of her paintings which hangs on a wall I see everyday.  Rest in peace, dear Georgette.

Heartfelt condolences and prayers from the Shetty Family.  
I met Georgette at her home.  She gave me such a warm hug that day when she came to know I was her daughter, Kathy's friend.  She 
 murmured into my ears saying "thank you for being such a good friend to my daughter." I will remember these words and her smile forever.  I know she is at peace and with angels now.

Although Georgette has completed her earthly life, she will always live in our hearts.  Georgette was a very unique, lovely person whose house was always open to family and friends for whom she served as a most gracious host.  Even in her latter days, she invited friends for rich conversation and elegantly served delicious food.   Her endless creativity manifested itself in everything she did—painting, sewing, cooking and serving others.   I feel very lucky our paths crossed through the Pan American Round Table of Austin (PART).  She truly modeled the PART woman always striving to seek “knowledge, understanding and friendship until we are One for  All and All for One.”  Thank you, Georgette, for making a difference in this world. I know the Heavenly gates gladly opened for you, and angels joyfully sang welcoming  their servant to her eternal home. 

Tia Georgette was a kind a loving woman, which she warmly shared with all.  She always kept a welcoming home that never knew a stranger.  Her legacy continues through  her children, who continue her loving and selfless ways.  Although we grew up far from each other, the closeness of family has always been a strong one.  I cherish my Escutia family. Tia Georgette brightened many lives, and will be greatly missed. God Bless.  

When we were in Santiago, Chile we knew the Escutias. My husband was at the American embassy and I taught school at the International School Nido de Aguilas.  Her children and my children went to school together. At that time Georgette was very involved with the school and was on its board. She was very conscientious in her responsibilities. Years later, she and her husband were also active in the Retired Foreign Service Group that we have here in Austin.  I will miss her kindliness and please accept my deepest condolences at her death. Both of my sons send condolences to her family in this sad time.

My condolences to the family!  I met her through the American Round Table. I didn't know her well. But I instantly liked her. Not only was she a beautiful lady,  she was super friendly and made me feel included.  I always enjoyed sitting with her at our meetings. She will be missed.  May she rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to the Escutia family.  I have many memories of Georgette and the Escutia’s from Laredo and Houston and that will last for ever.  Prayers to all.

Virgilio and Georgette lived in Laredo when their children were very young. A woman of lively intellect, talent, energy and self discipline, Georgette chose to focus her life on her family and her immediate community.  She read widely in three languages, designed and sewed elegant clothing and costumes, cooked wonderful meals, drafted plans for house remodeling and landscaping, participated in  classes and lectures, painted, gardened and kept in close daily contact with family  members near and far.  She taught by example and by patient instruction many good things to children and adults all her life.  We thank God for the gift of Georgette.

Very soon after I joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Louis Church there was a Ministry Fair to recruit new members.  I was approached by Georgette and Virgil, an elegant and charming couple . Yes, they wanted to help, and yes they were bilingual and Georgette had years of community and church service in numerous countries. They came to the meeting that week. I was needing a home visitation partner, and she  immediately agreed. We participated almost every week for the next 20 years, often working with two or three families in need a week. Georgette was truly compassionate, always gentle and intelligent in her responses.  Many of her efforts were the start of long term friendships with people, especially immigrants.  She was and is a star in my firmament.

A beautiful family we will not soon forget. May her journey to heaven be swift. Prayers to the family and blessing.
