He was born January 7th, 1944 to Glenn Park and Melverna Allen Scott in San Diego, CA. Growing up in Canton, TX he would graduate High School there and then go on to attend University of Texas Law School in Austin where he obtained a J D Doctor of Law Degree.
He met his future wife, Iris, at University Baptist Church in Austin when he saw her come down the stairs to the fellowship hall. They spent that evening together and started dating the next day. They were married two years later on March 16, 1968.
After graduation from law school and passing the Bar exam he immediately reported to Air Force Officer Training in San Antonio. He served in several states and finished his service in Korea as a Jag officer, after which he joined VFW Post 4443 as a Life Member. Upon returning to Austin, he joined the legal division of the Texas State Department of Human Services, where he worked until his retirement.
A wonderful moment for him was holding his wife’s hand as their twin daughters, Lisa Ann and Michelle Yvonne, were born.
The family traveled together every chance they got. When he decided he wanted to scuba dive, his wife went to work to find classes and the four of them were certified scuba divers soon thereafter. The 4 dived together till the kids left home after their graduation from High School. He and his wife continued to dive, making over 2000 dives all over the Caribbean and as far as the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.
His hobbies included traveling, scuba diving, bird watching and reading. Geocaching became a new hobby and they found caches in every US state and many foreign countries. He made many friends in the geocaching community all over the world.
After retirement he and his wife traveled extensively in their motorhome, including visiting every continental state, including Alaska, most of Canada, and as far south as Belize. In addition they flew or cruised to over 60 countries.
Diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2015 but he continued to do as much as he could, with his loving wife having to do more for him as the disease progressed. He exceeded his life expectancy of original diagnosis, living for 6 more years. Just days before his death he was still telling people about that wonderful moment of falling in love instantly with the lady who became the love of his life. He passed away in her arms.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iris Scott (Burnett) of Austin TX. His twin daughters Lisa Ann Krabbenhoft (husband Matthew) of Kyle TX, and Michelle Yvonne Garrett (husband Mike) of Port Aransas TX. Along with his 2 grandchildren, Lindsay Krabbenhoft and Scott Krabbenhoft.
He will be laid to rest at a graveside service with Military Honors at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Park in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers please consider a plant arrangement or donating to ALS at www.als.org, where you can contribute nationally or to your local chapter.
