Gregory Lynn Davey, 73, of Austin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on May 10, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert Sherman Davey and Mae Louise Clark Davey.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Greg will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Marsha Davey; his children, Brian Davey (Tara), Brent Davey (Majick), and Suzanne Davey; grandchildren, Vinny, Brooklyn, Grace, and Jackson; siblings, Carolyn Nestle (Gary), Steve Davey (Charlene), and Don Davey; 9 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
Greg was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, then went to serve in the U.S. Army for two years active duty at Ft. Riley, Kansas and then four years in the Reserves. He was in the restaurant business his whole career, working for several companies throughout the years. His last position was a general partner in the Ruth’s Chris Steak House franchise in Austin from 1999 until his retirement in 2014.
Greg’s favorite activities included fishing, hunting, and golf, which he enjoyed with his sons, brothers, and friends. He loved to tell and re-tell the many stories of their adventures together. He enjoyed being a little league coach for his sons and daughter and being a “second dad” to many of their friends.
Greg leaves behind a legacy of everything a faithful, loyal, loving husband and father should be. He was the best. He will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends from across the country. May he rest in peace and carry our love with him for eternity.
For those desiring, contributions may be made in Greg’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or Hospice Austin.
