Harold grew up in La Grange, Texas, where he attended public school, graduating from La Grange High School in 1968. Throughout his school years, he was an outstanding athlete and enjoyed filling the leadership positions of quarterback and pitcher. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his life.
After moving to Austin, and working as a surveyor for a short time, Harold opened Tiedt Service Center on South Lamar in 1976 and shortly thereafter bought out Jerry Jacobs Barbecue on Barton Springs Road, which is now Green Mesquite.
For over 30 years, Harold enjoyed serving the public and retired in 2006.
Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara Tiedt; daughter, Courtney Tiedt; brother, Robert Tiedt and wife, Margie and numerous other loving family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 at Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Heart Hospital of Austin and Cornerstone Hospital for the kindness they showed as they cared for him.
